"Undo that" now reaches moves and filing, and your item history says what happened in plain words. Desktop AI starts sooner and gives full answers. Chat stops losing quick follow-ups, keeps the model you picked and names the model that actually answered. The iPhone tells you when an update is waiting.
Where this release is today. Everything the server does (undo, chat answers, exports, sharing, and AI assistants you've connected) changes for everyone on the day 0.14.15 is released, on the phone and the web alike. The web interface (app.ambientchat.ai) has its parts from release day. Your Mac gets a new ambientChat Desktop AI app the same day. The iPhone app's own screens arrive with the 0.14.15 update from the App Store, which also brings the iPhone parts of 0.14.14. Each section below says which is which.
#What It Does
#Undo that reaches further (everywhere — release day)
- Undo filing. Ask the AI to file or move your things, even to empty every folder back to Home, and the Undo in chat puts every item back in the folders it was in. An item you have moved again since stays where you put it.
- Undo a single move. "Undo that" puts a moved item back in the folder it came from, not only an edit back to its old value.
- Undo won't overwrite a later change. If something has changed the same thing since, undo says so and leaves it alone.
- Changes can be undone for 180 days.
#Your item history in words (web — release day)
An item's Recent changes now lists every move, filing, creation, scan, trash, restore and permanent delete, in words: Moved from Hall to Loft, Moved to Trash. Items you scan show when and how they were created.
#Restoring an older backup keeps what you've changed since (everywhere — release day)
Where a backup and your account both hold the same record, the newer copy stays. The import message says how many records it kept, for example "Kept 12 records that were newer here than in the backup."
#Desktop AI: sooner and fuller (your Mac, with chat on the phone and the web — release day)
Desktop AI answers your questions with Qwen 3.6 35B running on your own Mac. It's an Alpha anyone can try from Control → Desktop AI.
- It starts sooner. Your Mac now gets a short opening and asks for the tools it needs as it goes. On our test Mac the first read after a rest fell from 37.5 to 25.1 seconds. A Mac that has just restarted or updated Desktop AI is warmed straight away.
- Full answers. No more answers cut short, and no "Want me to…?" at the end. Every item it mentions shows as a card with its name.
- World facts are checked. Questions about people, history or the news get a web search first, and the answer cites it.
- Big questions pause less. When a question pulls in a lot of your inventory, it answers from what fits and says how much it is showing.
- Your Mac writes the title. A Desktop AI conversation is named by your Mac. Nothing about it goes to a cloud model, not even its title or a share link's heading.
- The menu bar speaks chat's words. The Desktop AI menu shows each step in the same words as the line under an answer, with the ambientChat wordmark at the top; click it to open ambientChat.
#Chat that keeps up (everywhere — release day; the picker and Stop on the iPhone with the update)
- A follow-up asked just as an answer finishes waits and goes through instead of being refused.
- Answers finish the moment their last word arrives.
- Stop a question before any model has started on it and chat says Stopped — not sent, with Send again.
- The model you pick stays picked when you come back to chat, restart the app or reload the page.
- Each answer names the model that actually wrote it, even right after a model is retired or renamed.
- The progress line in everyday words: Searching the web for …, Searching your inventory for …, Thinking it through…, and on Desktop AI roughly how long a long read has left.
- Listen reads every answer, including Desktop AI answers and answers recovered after a dropped connection.
- Chat talks about the zone in the header, never a zone next door that the scanner overheard.
- A PDF, Word or PowerPoint file or note you attached to discuss is remembered later in the conversation.
#Folders that say what's in them (web — release day; iPhone — with the update)
- Folder cards show their counts the moment they appear.
- A folder of items, or one holding a shared folder you filed there, no longer says Empty. "Shared with me" lists the shared folder, and its number matches what it shows.
- Saving into a folder that has since been deleted tells you, instead of hiding the result.
#Exports and sharing (everywhere — release day)
- One JSON export for an item, document, answer, selection or folder, the same from the phone, the web or a connected AI. An answer's export leaves out where and on what device it was asked.
- A shared folder shows only the folder, never who else has it or where it sits among yours.
- A shared item opens from a chat card or link, read-only, with the owner's name.
- Someone editing a document you shared can change its words and details, but not move it, change its type or its sharing.
#Scanning that stops when you say stop (everywhere — release day)
- Cancel while a photo is analysed stops the scan; Cancel while it saves stops and says how many items were saved.
- A scan that hits a hiccup late no longer saves two of everything.
#On the iPhone (with the 0.14.15 update)
- Update card. When a newer version is on the App Store, a card above the tab bar offers Update.
- Control → Rate ambientChat opens the App Store review page. The app asks for a rating by itself only after you've used it for a while, never over an answer.
- Signing out leaves nothing behind for the next person on the same phone, and offline changes wait for the account that made them.
- Lists: Return starts the next line beneath, × drops a half-typed line, and Just me beside the add box keeps a new line to you. On a shared list, tap a line's words to change them; everyone sees you type.
- From 0.14.14: a shared answer reads like the chat, a side-by-side Image Studio pair remembers your pick, Back from a document goes to Documents, search in Control covers the screen, and a dropped chat connection says so.
- Smaller fixes: your sign-in email can't be typed over; Reimagine profile photo no longer times out; lists, uploads and lost connections say what went wrong and offer Retry; a receipt's linked items match the web with each price in its own currency; printing an item includes its picture, value and details.
#How to Use It
To undo a filing or a move: tap Undo on the toast in chat, or say "undo that".
To see an item's history: on the web, open the item and look under Recent changes.
To keep a list line to yourself: turn on Just me beside the add box before you add it.
To update Desktop AI on your Mac: when its menu shows Update ready — Restart to finish, click it.
To rate ambientChat: Control → Rate ambientChat on the iPhone, or Control → Support → Rate ambientChat on the web.
#Tips & Tricks
- Asked the AI to tidy your folders and don't like the result? "Undo that" puts everything back, and won't undo anything you've changed by hand since.
- Want Desktop AI to look something up? Ask about the world ("When did the Berlin Wall fall?") and it searches the web before answering.
#Known Limitations
- Item history is on the web only. The iPhone has no Recent changes screen yet; on the phone, undo by asking chat.
- A move you make by hand has no Undo button. Dragging or Move to Folder can be undone by asking chat, but no Undo appears on screen yet.
- Undo on a bulk change older than 180 days does nothing visible; the change has expired.
- Cancel can't yet stop Office, spreadsheet, text, large-PDF or barcode scans.
- Desktop AI is an Alpha. It needs an Apple-silicon Mac with 24 GB of memory and offers one model (Qwen 3.6 35B). A greeting can get a one-word reply, and a reopened Desktop AI conversation can label its own earlier answers as another model's.
- The update card shows only in the App Store app, not in TestFlight builds.
- Opening a document someone shared with you from a chat answer can show a blank page.
- Until you update the iPhone app, the phone parts above don't appear; everything marked everywhere works on the older app.
