Desktop AI is open to everyone. Shared lists now update live as people type, and shared answers read like the chat while carrying only the answer.
Where this release is today. 0.14.14 went live on 20 October 2026 on the web interface (app.ambientchat.ai) and for everything the server does: chat answers on the phone and the web, shared links and pages, and AI assistants you've connected. The iPhone app's own screens catch up with the App Store update after 0.14.13. Each section below says which is which.
#What It Does
#Desktop AI: open to everyone, with no invitation (web — live now; iPhone — with 0.14.13)
Desktop AI answers your questions with a model running on your own Mac. Any account can now switch it on: open Control → Desktop AI and click Try Desktop AI. There's nothing to apply for. It's still an Alpha, and it needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer), at least 24 GB of memory and about 20 GB of free disk. Where an account has it switched off, the message now says how to switch it on.
On the iPhone, Control → Desktop AI arrives with the 0.14.13 update. No further phone update is needed.
#Shared lists: tap the words to change them (web — live now; iPhone — next update)
- A tap or click anywhere on a line still ticks it. A tap on the line's words opens them for typing where they are.
- Everyone else who has the list open sees you type as it happens, in your colour, on that line.
- The line saves once, when you leave it: press Return, tap away, close the list or switch tabs. One edit is one save and one undo.
#Sharing answers and items
- A shared answer reads like the chat. The preview of a Q&A answer someone shared with you shows formatted text, the model that answered, its pictures and its sources. The public link reads the same way. (Web and links — live now; iPhone — next update.)
- A shared answer carries only the answer. The person you share with, and any AI connected to their account, get the question, the answer, who answered, when, the sources and the pictures. Nothing else from your saved record goes with it, such as where you were when you asked. (Live now everywhere.)
- Shared items show their real picture. A shared item, a shared folder's rows, Radar, and a public share page with its link preview all use the picture the owner sees in their grid. (Live now everywhere.)
- AI assistants can read a guide shared with you, including its table of contents and sections. A share that has lapsed says so instead of "not found". (Live now everywhere.)
#Image Studio
- Pictures load lighter. New images get a card-sized copy for chat and Q&A and a thumbnail for the Documents grid, so long lists of images download far less. (Live now, for images made from now on.)
- A side-by-side pair remembers your pick. Reopen a Dual pair, or pick a side by asking, and it shows the side you kept. (Web — live now; iPhone — next update.)
- The Dual side picker opens on screen in a phone's web browser after you scroll down to it. (Web — live now.)
#Items and documents
- Iconify keeps your photo. The icon goes beside an item's photo or album cover instead of replacing it, so you can still swipe back to the original. (Live now everywhere.)
- Document details show the time on the web, as on the iPhone, in your own time zone. (Web — live now.)
- Back goes to your Documents. A document opened from chat, Scan or Sharing goes Back to the Documents list. (Web — live now; iPhone — next update.)
- Larger PDFs get pages. PDFs of 8–20 MB now get page images, and 20 MB is the limit everywhere. (Live now everywhere.)
#Fixed on the iPhone (next update)
- Search in Control covers the screen, with the box at the top and clear of the keyboard. "subscribe" finds My subscription.
- Dimmed backgrounds and "working…" covers sit over the screen again instead of inside the page.
- Tapping the myAI Context tab always brings you back, even from a passport opened from chat.
- If the phone loses its connection in the middle of an answer, chat says so and why, instead of stopping silently.
#How to Use It
To try Desktop AI: open Control → Desktop AI on the web and click Try Desktop AI, then follow the steps on your Mac.
To change a line on a shared list: tap or click its words, type, then press Return or tap away.
To see a shared answer: open it where it was shared with you, or open its link.
#Tips & Tricks
- Two of you can work on the same list at the same time. Each person's typing shows in their own colour, so you can see who is changing what.
- Want an item's icon and its photo? Iconify it. Both stay, and you can swipe between them.
#Known Limitations
- The iPhone parts aren't on the phone yet. Anything marked iPhone — next update arrives with the App Store update after 0.14.13.
- Desktop AI is an Alpha. It needs an Apple-silicon Mac with 24 GB of memory, is slower than the cloud models on long questions, and offers one model (Qwen 3.6 35B).
- Older images keep their full-size copy. Lighter cards and thumbnails apply to images made from this release on.
