Stop means stop, find anything inside a document, put your own pictures on your things, and shop from a list that behaves like one. Claude Haiku 5.5 and GPT-6 arrive, and the Panel of Experts switch makes way for something simpler.
Which model answers, what Stop does and what things cost change for everyone on the day 0.14.12 is released, on the iPhone and the web alike. What the iPhone app draws arrives on the phone with the 0.14.12 update from the App Store. The web interface (app.ambientchat.ai) has its parts from release day.
#What It Does
#Stop means stop
Tap ■ while the AI is answering and it stops at once. You're charged only for what it did, Q&A keeps exactly what you saw, and you can ask your next question straight away. Before, ■ ended the answer only on your screen: the AI finished it anyway, you paid for all of it, and the conversation refused your next question until it was done.
- A stopped answer has a small Stopped line under it everywhere it appears — the chat, Q&A, a reopened conversation, a print or export, and any share.
- On the web, the send button becomes ■ Stop while the AI answers, as on the iPhone.
- While the AI reads what a lookup found, the answer says Reading the results….
- A slow answer no longer turns into "interrupted" while it's still arriving.
- When the AI can't answer, it tells you why.
#Second opinions, simply
The Panel of Experts switch is gone. To get a second opinion, switch model and ask. In a conversation that mixes models, each earlier answer is labelled with the model that wrote it, so "what do you make of GPT's answer?" works. Send an empty message box (↻) to re-ask your last question to the model you just picked. See Second Opinions.
#Claude Haiku 5.5 and GPT-6
- Claude Haiku 5.5 replaces Claude Haiku 4.5 as the everyday Claude choice, and is the model you start with if you haven't picked one. It answers as well, is quicker on slow questions, and uses a fraction of the credits.
- GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna replace GPT-5.6 Sol and GPT-5.6 Luna.
- If you had chosen one of the replaced models, your choice moves to its successor by itself.
- The models you switch on or off belong to your account, so the list is the same on your phone, on the web and for AI assistants you've connected. The web's Settings → AI Model Selection has the on/off switches and a Default model choice.
#Find anything inside a document
Open a document → ⋯ → Find in document (on the web, ⌘F or Ctrl-F). Every match is highlighted and counted (3 of 12); ↑ and ↓ step through them.
- Works in notes, checklists, text and Word files, and the text read from PDFs and scans.
- In a spreadsheet it searches every row — every sheet of an Excel workbook — not just the rows on screen.
- In a checklist where nothing matches, Add "…" to the list adds it in one tap.
#Finding your way around
- Recent on Inventory and Documents lists everything you added, newest first, from every folder. It replaces Just Added.
- Documents show which folder they're in — in lists and in chat answers.
- Sorting documents by Modified puts the whole folder in order, not just what has loaded.
- Folders and items appear under Folders and Items headings.
- Search Settings — the yellow search button at the bottom left of Settings on the iPhone, Search settings on the web. Type a setting's name, a word from its screen, or an everyday word: "tokens" finds AI Model Selection; "invoice" finds Billing history.
- Search finds items by their product-passport facts — allergens, labels, Nutri-Score, Eco-Score.
#Your own pictures on your things
- ⋯ → Upload item image… puts your own picture on an item.
- Swipe through an item's pictures; the one you leave showing becomes its thumbnail. Long-press (iPhone) or right-click (web) → Set as default image pins one.
- The (X) on a picture moves it to Trash, with Undo; restore it from Trash and it goes back where it was.
- On a Radar card, tap an exhibit's picture to see it full screen and pinch to zoom.
- Albums get their real cover art, found by barcode or by artist and title in public music catalogues — a drawing is made only if nothing matches — plus a track listing and record details: label, catalogue number, genres and credits.
#Shopping lists that behave like lists
- A checklist opens as a list: tick a row and it sinks to the bottom; add a row right under its heading; swipe or long-press a row to remove it.
- Mark a row Just me and only you see it on a shared list.
- If two people open a new shared list at the same moment, both get it.
#Journey reports
- Select exactly which items a journey report covers. Inside a folder, Journey starts with the folder's tracked items ticked.
- Temperature charts join their readings into lines, show gaps as dashed stretches, give every item its bar, and open with the detail table showing.
#Beacons and tags
- My Beacons & Tags is on the web too: Settings → Bluetooth Tags & Beacons.
- Rename or delete your own beacons and tags — on the phone, the web, or by asking chat.
- Pause or resume a beacon in one tap on the phone, and edit its AI context — what the assistant is told about it.
- Snooze 1h or Snooze 24h from a beacon's notification, the phone's beacon editor or the web. A snooze is kept with your account, so it lasts through a restart and on your other devices.
- A beacon's alert and prominence settings stay as you set them — they used to reset whenever the app started.
- Something you scan after you've been in a zone for a while is filed to that zone, not to your street address.
#Sharing
- Renew works for shares sent by email too.
- A lapsed share says when it expired and whom to ask. Expired shares leave Shared with me.
- A shared folder shows everything in it — no more stopping at 200.
- Share emails and pages carry the whole answer or item, under a short title.
- On the iPhone, Settings → Sharing & groups → tap a group opens it.
- Deleting something you shared takes its links down — a document, item, answer or folder. Restore it from Trash and its sharing comes back as it was.
#Connected AI assistants, one by one
Each AI assistant you've connected — Claude, ChatGPT, Grok — has its own switch and a Disconnect button: on the iPhone in Settings → myAI Context Sharing, on the web in Context Sharing, or ask chat ("pause ChatGPT's access to my context"). Before, one switch labelled "Claude" turned them all off. Notifications that your context was read name the assistant, and the second-opinion tool respects the Context Sharing switch.
#Scans, plans and your account
- The price beside the camera shutter is gone. You're warned before a scan only when it would cost more than your balance, with a way to upgrade.
- The cost a scan was quoted had been about 30 times too high; it's right now.
- A subscription whose payment is being retried keeps its plan through the grace period; a cancelled one shows access until its end date.
- Billing history shows every row of a long period, with repeated charges grouped.
- New passwords need at least 12 characters, with upper and lower case, a number and a symbol. Your existing password still signs you in.
- A very long prompt — over 100,000 tokens in one request on Claude Haiku 5.5, 200,000 on Gemini 3.1 Pro, 272,000 on GPT — is charged at the provider's long-context rate.
#Smaller things
- Receipt items get real product names instead of till abbreviations.
- A PDF exports and prints as the file you uploaded.
- No more undeletable "Untitled" rows in the Documents list on the iPhone.
- Q&A lists show the time of day again.
- Under each answer, a line shows the credits and tokens it used and how long it took — to the first words and to the end — on the iPhone as well as the web.
- Folder views show a document's real size; an edited note no longer reads "12 B".
- On the web: Print opens the print dialog in one click, folders scroll with the items under them, and opening or closing an item keeps you where you were.
#How to Use It
To stop an answer: tap ■ while it's being written.
To get a second opinion: pick another model in the model picker and ask again — or send an empty message box to re-ask the last question.
To find a word in a document: open it → ⋯ → Find in document.
To put your own picture on an item: open the item → ⋯ → Upload item image….
To snooze a beacon: use Snooze 1h or Snooze 24h on its notification.
To pause one connected assistant: Settings → myAI Context Sharing, or ask chat.
#Tips & Tricks
- Before adding something to a shopping list, Find it first — if it's not there, the find bar offers to add it.
- Ask the same question of two models in one conversation, then ask either one to compare the two answers — each answer is labelled with the model that wrote it.
- In Settings search, everyday words work: "tokens" finds AI Model Selection, "invoice" finds Billing history.
#Known Limitations
- Find in document works while reading, not while editing, and not in a spreadsheet someone shared with you.
- The low-balance warning covers photo scans — not PDFs, document photos or rescans. A scan you start with any credits left runs to the end, even if it uses more than remain.
- If you tap ■ at the very moment an answer finishes, the Stopped line can occasionally disagree with the reopened conversation.
- Gemini sometimes ends an answer with "I wasn't able to produce an answer" after giving one.
- Shopping lists: a printed list still shows
[ ]; another shopper's ticks don't appear on your screen live; rows can't yet be renamed or dragged. - Sharing: the share sheet can show an expired public link as live.
- An album whose catalogue title adds a subtitle may get a drawn cover.
- Search by meaning looks at up to 200 documents shared with you each time; a journey report covers up to 25 items.
- On an iPhone still running 0.14.11, the old Panel of Experts switch is still shown but no longer does anything — switch model to get a second opinion, or update the app.
