The release where the iPhone catches up with the web: act on things without opening them, tick off your lists, and share where something — or a whole folder of things — has been, and import a whole spreadsheet from chat. Claude Sonnet 5.5 arrives.
0.14.10 went out on the web and the server only. Everything its guide marked iPhone — next update arrives on the phone with 0.14.11, together with what has landed since. The web interface (app.ambientchat.ai) and everything the server does have the new parts from the day 0.14.11 is released.
#What It Does
#Act without opening (iPhone)
Long-press any item or document — in Thumbnails, List or Text view, on the Expiring strip, or on the Documents tab — for Share…, Rename, Move to Folder…, Select and Move to Trash. Moving to Trash happens at once, with Undo.
#Tick off a list
Any checklist — one the AI wrote, or one pasted from Apple Notes or Reminders — shows real checkboxes. Tap anywhere on the row and it saves; ticked lines are struck through. You don't need to open the editor. A checklist inside an AI answer is drawn as checkboxes too.
#Share where something has been — the journey report
For a tracked item, Share journey report (in its tracking sheet) makes a live page anyone with the link can open — no account, no app. It shows where the item went, how long it stayed in each zone, the temperature with every move marked, and how each stop is known (Tag heard here, Scanned here, Set by hand, Inferred). Reopen the link after the item moves and the move is there. Map positions are rounded to about 10 km unless you ask for exact ones.
- A whole folder at once. Long-press a folder of tracked items (on the web, its ⋯) and choose Share journey report, or open the folder and tap Journey beside Share. One page, one row per item, and items filed into the folder later appear on the same link. Up to 25 items.
- It fits the screen. On a laptop the page is a dashboard, with the map and each site's temperature chart beside their stops; on a phone each stop is two lines. The top of the page gives the headline numbers — stops, sites, how long it was watched, the temperature range and any excursions.
#Spreadsheets into your inventory
- Attach a spreadsheet in chat — Excel, CSV or TSV — and ask to add it to your inventory. The assistant reads every row itself and imports hundreds of rows in one step; details like year or label can be kept in each item's notes.
- Just discuss keeps the file out of Documents unless you ask; Save as document keeps it, chat tells you, and it appears in Documents at once. Attaching the same sheet again reuses the saved copy.
- Open any spreadsheet in Documents — Excel as well as CSV — and choose Create items from this….
#Beacons and tags
- Settings has a new Bluetooth Tags & Beacons section; Walk & Teach and Ranging live there.
- My Beacons & Tags there lists the beacons and tags you own, even one the phone can't hear right now. Tap one to link your items and documents to it, or ask chat to. They are removed with your account if you ever delete it.
#Claude Sonnet 5.5
Claude Sonnet 5.5 replaces Sonnet 5 as the balanced Claude choice in the model picker, at the same price in credits. If Sonnet 5 was your default, it carries forward to Sonnet 5.5 on the iPhone and the web.
#Search that finds what you meant
- Your words can be in any order and needn't sit together.
- Word endings and numbers are forgiven: "survive" finds "Surviving", "5" finds "Five". The phone's search boxes use the same rules offline.
- More by meaning includes documents people shared with you, marked with who shared them.
- Ask a connected AI — Claude, ChatGPT, Grok — for a document someone shared with you by its title, and it finds and opens that document.
#Sharing you can't change by accident (iPhone)
- Choosing an audience shares nothing until you press Share or Create link. "Anyone" is now Public link — the open web.
- Tapping someone's access or duration opens a list of choices that names the date. The heading reads Access expires, so Never means access never runs out. Every change offers Undo.
- Renew on the Sharing screen only ever extends access.
#Edit what's shared with you
- A note or list shared with you as Can edit lets you edit its words, not only its title and details.
- A shared document says who last edited it, and Undo last saved change names whose change it would undo.
#Folders, Trash and Home (iPhone)
- A deleted folder is one row in Trash, as on the web, and the badge counts the same.
- Take an item out of its last folder and it appears on Home straight away.
- Leave a restore and come back — Your Data shows it running, or what it restored.
- Renaming a receipt shows everywhere, and spreadsheet previews size each column to its text.
#When something fails, it says so
Trash, skills, chat references, question history, your interests on the Me tab and the share sheet's list of groups say couldn't load — try again when a load fails, instead of looking empty.
#How to Use It
To act on something without opening it: long-press it.
To tick a list: open the document and tap the row.
To share a journey: open a tracked item's tracking sheet and tap Share journey report; for a folder, long-press it or open it and tap Journey. Or ask chat: "make a journey report for the crates in my Demo Kit folder."
#Tips & Tricks
- A journey page follows its folder — send the link once, and items you file there later appear on it.
- Rename a venue before sharing a journey report if you named it after its street address.
#Known Limitations
- Search by meaning looks at up to 200 documents shared with you each time; one shared with Everyone is searched only once you file it.
- A journey page shows a venue's name as you entered it — a venue named after its street address shows that address publicly.
- Ticking a shared list is one person at a time, and a printed list still shows
[ ]. - A share sent by email lapses after 30 days and can't be renewed yet.
- Voice input and Listen are on the phone only.
